NCCE Celebrates Citizenship Week with Schools at Dormaa East District.

 

In commemorating 2023 Citizenship Week Celebration, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at the Dormaa East District embarked on a mission to educate the pupils of the Dormaa East enclave on the qualities of a good citizenry.

During the weeklong celebration,

NCCE intensified its engagements with 34 basic and Junior High schools as part of the annual Citizenship Week celebration.

According to Mr. Emmanuel Hinneh, NCCE director for Dormaa East District, says, the purpose of this annual event to their target group is to distill the virtues of patriotism and the qualities of a good citizen on the students, so as to mold them into role models and mentors in their community.

 

Hinneh, further reminded the pupils of their responsibilities as agent of change and the future leaders, thus the need for them to adhere to the Ghanaian values and culture to build a strong and vibrant national cohesion and democratic nation.

As part of their collaboration with civil society leaders, Nananom, assembly members, teachers and various stakeholders, the NCCE invited Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman, Dormaa East District Chief Executive to speak at the Presbyterian Church at Asuotiano.

Hon. Kofi Agyeman, speaking on the theme for the event “Thirty Years of consolidating Constitutional Democracy and Building National Cohesion: The Role of the Youth”.

He emphasize the need for the pupils to abstain from wrongful actions such as child prostitution, teenage pregnancy, truancy at school and abstain from every illigal acts and be proud of their nation, to be patriotic citizens and to promote the good name of Ghana.

He went further to encourage pupils to inculcate the spirit of respect to elderly and authorities and shared the values of peaceful coexistence and respect as the building block for national cohesion.

The headmistress of Presbyterian Junior High School at Asuotiano Mrs. Francesca A.Acquah thanked Hon DCE and NCCE team, stated that the event was very timely and the education of students is vital to ensuring the continuation of peace, prosperity and stability in Ghana.
