Mid-Year budget review and planning for Dormaa East district
In reviewing performance for the first half of 2022 and to make informed decisions, the Dormaa East District Budget Unit and Central administration has organized a mid-year budget review meeting on Wednesday July 20th, 2022 at the District Assemblyโs conference hall.
The meeting presided over by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. J.J Amanah, saw the attendance of the various heads of Departments and Units in the Assembly and representatives from the Dormaa East education directorate and Assembly members respectively.
In an opening and general presentation by the head of the Districtโs budget Unit, Mr.Evans Ockrah-Anyim elaborated on the districtโs performance review from January 2022 on development programmes, projects and activities. He also presented the details of the annual action plan implemented in areas like economic and social development, environmental, infrastructure and public accountability etc from January to June 2022.
On the proportion of Annual Action Plan (AAP) and overall Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) implemented, he gave out specificsย indicators on percentages completed, ongoing, yet to start projects and their targets and actuals specifically for the year 2022.
Again, he highlighted on the Districts Financial performance from and gave updates on all the expenditures and their funding sources as at June 2022. He also touched on status of projects and programmes in the district and their implementing stages.
Closing his presentation, he briefly outlined the key challenges identified during the implementation of the 2022 plan and budget which some include inadequate funds, untimely release of funds, lean season, inadequate political and administrative commitment to plan implementation, impact of corona virus pandemic, inadequate logistics etc. He finally hinted on some lessons learnt which have implications for 2022 action plan and budget.
As a constitutional and budgetary requirements, it’s envisage that the proper implications of the review for the fiscal year will help will help the assembly towards the development aspirations of the District.
